Off-Campus, Still Connected: Support for Commuter Students

Many juniors, seniors and nontraditional students live off campus and commute anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes from campus.

Commuter Lounge and Lockers

The lounge and lockers are located in Lower Manley. You will need your own lock and will sign a locker agreement in the Office of Inclusion. Beyond the locker room there is a bathroom equipped with showers for your use.

Commuter Lounge Hours: Monday – Friday | 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Commuter Student Association

Commuter students are important members of the ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ community so let your voice be heard by joining the Commuter Student Association. Who knows? Maybe you’ll meet a new friend with whom you can carpool or find a buddy to chat with while you ride the train. We’re all about making your commute to campus and your Spelman experience more enjoyable. Please join. 

Student Unlimited Parking is available to purchase for $300 per semester. With unlimited parking, you can park anywhere on campus, you may come and go without paying each time, and you are allowed to park overnight. Daily parking rates are $3 per day and $6 overnight. With daily parking, vehicles must park in the parking deck. A declining balance card is available for purchase in the AAA Parking office for daily parking. All student vehicles must be registered with AAA Parking to obtain the sticker for your windshield. The AAA Parking office is located on the first level of the West Parking Deck. Commuter students can park anywhere on campus but only during visitation hours, which are from 5:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Monday – Friday and from 7 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. on weekends. Only persons in the paid parking program will have access to campus parking when parking becomes limited to ensure spaces are available to those who paid in advance.

ENFORCEMENT NOTICE
Strict enforcement of campus parking regulations is necessary to ensure compliance with fire codes, unimpeded access for emergency vehicles, and enable the college to meet the guarantee of parking availability to individuals enrolled in the variety of pre-pay parking programs offered by the College.  Vehicles violating campus parking regulations are subject to removal from the property at the owner's expense without notice or warning. Repeated violations of Spelman traffic or parking regulations may result in the loss of Spelman parking privileges.

• Campus Surface Lots are reserved for Faculty and Staff (FS PINK Decal), Physically Handicapped (PH BLUE Decal), and monthly permit hang tags only Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Visitation Parking Hours last from 5:30 p.m. until 11:45 p.m. Monday – Friday and start at 9 a.m. Saturday – Sunday. During this time all can park for free in any available parking space on the surface lots.
• Resident Students with current Resident Decals (R Pink or CW Green Decal) must park in the West parking deck except during visitation parking hours where surface lots can be used.
• Commuter PAY DAILY PERMIT (C Lime Green Decal) can park in the West parking deck when space is available only or on surface lots during visitation hours. Find alternate parking when the deck is for paid decals only!
• Commuter PAID PERMIT West Parking Deck (RW Orange Decal) must park in the West parking deck except during visitation hours, surface lots can be used.
• Commuter PAID PERMIT Surface Commuter Lot (CS Purple and CS Peach Decal) must always park in the Surface Commuter Lot, located at Lee Street and West End Avenue, except during visitation hours.
• Visitor Parking (No Decal or Hang tag) may utilize surface parking lots during visitation hours. Visitors can park in the West parking deck when available or off campus. Overnight parking is not permitted.

Visitation hours for commuter students are 5:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Monday – Friday and 7 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. on weekends. 

Faculty and Staff (FS and PH Decal) may utilize the surface parking spaces when available. If none are available, use the West parking deck. Only PH decals can use handicap spaces, ask if assistance is needed with this!
