The Women in STEM (WiSTEM) program is only for students who will be enrolled as full-time students at 糖心传媒 in August 2025.
The WiSTEM Summer Bridge Accelerator is a six-week academically intensive residential program for entering first-year students who are pursuing degrees in mathematics, dual degree engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, biology and economics.
The program components include credit-bearing courses in mathematics, and either computer programming or English, based on the availability of instructors, hands-on work on projects with real-world applications that are directed by Spelman faculty/staff, and college preparation through enrichment activities. It includes targeted tutoring by student peer mentors, mentoring by STEM professionals, and academic advising by the program co-directors and staff.
The program continues during the 2025-26 academic year with a residential learning community and continued advising and mentoring. Students MUST complete the housing application by the Spelman housing application deadline (Wednesday, May 7) to be eligible for on-campus housing.
All WiSTEM students are required to participate in the learning community. If you have already made a housing selection, it will be changed to the learning community once you accept admittance into the program.
For the Summer, the program covers the full cost for student participants (tuition, e-books, materials and other resources), and provides a stipend of $500 for their full participation. Although students will have access to desktop computers, it is recommended that attendees bring their own laptops.
Program Dates: Sunday, June 8 – Friday, June 18
